"Wii U" announced at E3 this year.
Console:
Controller:
Definitely caught me off guard, it looked interesting, but the controller/tablet setup looks awkward. At this point, I have mixed feelings for the system, but that should change as they start to give more details on the games and such.
Also, they gave no info on the price, I can only speculate that it will be high.

Re: "Wii U" announced at E3 this year.
i saw the Wii U's controller but nothing on the system.
They really did not state anything about the console itself :/
im kinda dissapointed they didnt really reveal much, only the control.
also no bluray :(

I pretty much knew they were not going to include bluray. Nintendo hasn't been known to make their consoles multi-entertainment capable. It will have HD capabilities though.Itachi wrote:i saw the Wii U's controller but nothing on the system.

The touch pad does indeed seem awkward. I wouldn't be able to look at the TV screen, then switch to controller, then back up constantly. Plus it seems like it'd get me a bit angry at MHT. Would make it too confusing. I like the setup of the Wii remote instead of an actual controller setup. Especially with how wide it is and all the new buttons incorporated. I know I'd get used to it easy and my opinion will change if I get one, but for now I'm still thinking.

Just looking at what happened with the Nintendo Wii during it's run, I'm not expecting much out of the Wii U. I'm still hopeful that they manage to pull off the new controller system as being a fun and useful part of video gaming.
I'm also pretty excited that they addressed their third party issues at E3, I hope that support continues.

Re: "Wii U" announced at E3 this year.
I've read, BA, that the Wii U is supposed to be how Nintendo's catching up with 3rd generation gaming consoles: Xbox360 and Playstation 3.
As far as graphics, I expect them to be better. As well as from all that they mentioned from E3, I can see a new beginning for Nintendo. Also, Mario Party 9 is coming out soon as well, saw an official trailer for it on youtube from IGN

I'm sorry but in my opinion it might fail, but it looks good. Though, the controller is almost like the size of an ipad :/

I'm still not completely sure I like how the new console looks, but I don't think it'll fail. It has support from lots of 3rd parties, not to mention that's what people said about the Wii before it came out. Anyways, they'll get sales simply by being so well known.SoulReaver wrote:I'm sorry but in my opinion it might fail, but it looks good. Though, the controller is almost like the size of an ipad :/
Also YESSSSSSSSSSS at not needing friend codes. I didn't hate them, but they were soooo inconvenient.

Re: "Wii U" announced at E3 this year.
A lot of what Nintendo has done so far as worked in their favor, so I have no doubt they'll pull this off somehow.
Re: "Wii U" announced at E3 this year.
>Not getting. :U
I'm not getting it, and that's because of several things:
1. Money
2. 3rd party will still be all over the place and ransacking the game selection with tons of crappy games
3. Nintendo is disappointing me lately. A lot.
Quite honestly, there's not much incentive for me to even get one. I'd much rather get a PS3, in all honesty..but that's out of my affordability too. I've pretty much stopped playing console games because I have to use my money for dating, saving for a car, and saving for a new laptop. :U (And console games are expensive as hell when you have to pay for a system, accessories, and games. And I don't have my parents as an economic crutch for stuff anymore)

Re: "Wii U" announced at E3 this year.
ya im sticking with my wii, just because i already have so much gear for it, i dont need anything else to shelve.
Its interesting and all and no doubt itl do well i mean cmon guys its nintendo, but im going to stick to newer games for my wii like that KirbyWii they revealed
Also, I dont like how people keep saying its nintendo's way of catching up to microsoft and sony. The truth is, its sony and microsoft who are "trying" (in otherwords its not working lol) to catching up to nintendo, the truth is right in front of you, just look around.

Re: "Wii U" announced at E3 this year.
I'm definatly getting this. I love nintendo, and I'm anxious to see how the graphics will look on my Rock Band and Guitar Hero games.
Plus the new Smash Bros game is coming out for the 3DS and Wii U, and I want to be able to play it on a console, not a handheld, although I plan on getting a 3DS someday (probably).
I'm ready to see what Nintendo's gonna throw at us with this new Home console. More memory space I believe (thank God, that's what I'm mainly looking for not just better graphics), more decent graphics that will effect both original Wii games as well as games released for the Wii U. I'm pretty sure the guys in Japan are going to make it a fairly decent price that should around what the Wii was. I don't know yet, none of us do except Nintendo themselves. but I love the suspense, despite the fact that it's killing me XD

Re: "Wii U" announced at E3 this year.
I'm sorry to disappoint, but it won't be upping the graphics of pre-existing wii games. That kind of technology is impossible, as it would have to completely re-write the discs to do so.Funky Road wrote:I'm definatly getting this. It's only the new games that will have improved graphics.
Re: "Wii U" announced at E3 this year.

I agree, however, I also personally believe it is working both ways. It's just all the console war dogma that keeps people in denial about one product or another. Nintendo has really capitalized on the casual market, which has paid out big time for them. The only problem is that since the Wii was so successful with the casual market, Nintendo will have trouble getting the same customers to buy the Wii U. So this time around they'll have to win back some of the core market it lost to Xbox and Sony to give support to the Wii U when it launches. There is also the fact that some of the people in the casual market of yesterday are maturing into gamers with tastes and demands. (Aka core gamers)
Sony and Microsoft on the other hand are trying (almost desperately) to win over the casual market, simply because it's such a huge market and it's easy to please them. They also don't tend to hack their systems or pirate their games. lol
To put it briefly, it's pretty much is just the fact that the companies want it all.
Re: "Wii U" announced at E3 this year.
true, while microsoft and sony where staying with the core gamers. Nintendo did something unexpected, targeted the casual gamer, while sony and microsoft dazzled with there hardware, the wii wowed everyone with the motions controls. yes i do have to agree that sony and microsoft are trying to catch up.
Now that Wii U is going to be released, should we expect a domination of nintendo in the console wars?

Kind of up in the air at this point, at least until Sony and Microsoft play their hand and release their next consoles.Itachi wrote:Now that Wii U is going to be released, should we expect a domination of nintendo in the console wars?
