Not possible. I've tried it normally... and lawl you can't turn a boss into a trophy. I've tried it with homebrew (Yes I also play Brawl+) and still doesn't work.
Panther why try to argue on something you can't win?

it doesnt work it only damages then plus u cant do that in boss battles, AND u cant even walk through a door with an item anyway

NOTE: u can get the bosses with the tropie stand but only when you have weakened them sufficiently.
