So that is how he was named...not after an animal named "pika."

I know what a Pika is, that is why it is a common misconception. Satoshi Tajiri (the creator) dispelled the notion of being based off of the small mammal and is entirely a portmanteau word. Look it up.

Interesting note: my friend actually has two pika(s) (what is the plural??) and guess what he named one of them?

Anyway, back to the sub-topic. Yeah most pokemon are concieved from animals, and I guess Satoshi probably conceived the animal Pikachu from a pike and went from there for the name, it would make sense as he would have otherwise just arbitrarily added the chu.

We should go through the entire list of Pokemon thinking about what each one is in real life, ie try to find real life comparisons (maybe pix?)

Pika, and ender XD, Some pokemon have arleady been described by what they look like as a real animal,

Like they're description name like
Chimchar - the Chimp Pokemon
Zubat - the Bat Pokemon
Pidgey - the Tiny Bird Pokemon

and so forth XD

And idk why Arcanine is described as the Legendary Pokemon when it's not a legendary at all lol but still Love that pokemon anyway

It's legendary as the pokemon who has a nonsensical description.

well arcanine maybe because it is a canine on fire maybe that is why its described as a legendary pokemon? but then again so is ponita and rappidash

Pontya and Rapidash aren't "canines" they are horses lol

no funk i mean they are on fire like aracanine

they also suck. in fact, the only good fire types are the starters and legendaries. Slugma? LAME. Ponyta? AS IF. I think it can learn fire spin and ember...the 2 most useless fire attacks in the game. kinda like Ralts: only offensive psychic move it learns is confusion. (maybe extrasensory?)
