This is an odd topic for me
So the reason I say this is because it's just weird for me. I'm not used to telling people stuff about me that I find sort of personal. Sort of.
Anyway, we all know Tal is obsessed with dragons and such. Blah blah. A little TOO much. Talking to Grim, there's a name. Apparently, I made a revelation that I'm a scalie, a type of furry that is more on the (one guess. Nothing?) less furry side of furries. Dragons. Lizards. Etc.
It's odd. I'm not used to telling people secrets like this. Probably since if I said this to someone in school they'd treat me like some sort of outcast ._.
I know you guys accept me for who I am since you don't actually know me, and that's why I'm telling.
So. Derp. No one's probably surprised, but I expect people to now say "OMG I'M SURPRISED" just for sarcasm.
All done.

Perfectly understandable. There's nothing I can really say since we already had a chat though, so yeah. xD
Re: This is an odd topic for me
I thought Furries and scalies were limited to animals who at least showed some anthropomorphic features, regardless of what "state" they are in.
Since when did a love of an animal or a certain mythical creature qualify people to be furries or scalies and whatnot?

I'm not saying it's the "love of" or "obsession over." It's the "wanting to be" aspect and whatnot. I should have mentioned that. Also, if I can ever get the stuff to make it, I planned on making a costume to wear to a convention of a dragon. There's your anthropomorphic aspect. Dragon-like features on a human (or vice versa, however you view it).

You were saying?
But anyway, you're outside of the fandom and wouldn't necessarily be informed on such matters. What makes someone a 'furry' or a 'scalie' is exactly as you said: A love of a certain creature, and even a 'wanting to be' nature. But the person also has to recognize this and come to terms with it, as Tal already has. And someone in such a fandom often dresses in a similar manner. Like me with my fox stuff. Or Tal with any dragon stuff he might get.
To put it in more understandable terms: Think how someone who loves anime and is a fan of it is basically in a "fandom", or "subculture" and cosplays at conventions, and is referred to as an "Otaku". It's the same thing, except different.
Re: This is an odd topic for me
You misunderstood me Grim, I'm talking about Talent's interest in Dragons. How I understood his interest, he likes Dragons, not the fact that they have anthropomorphic features. He didn't seem to fit under the category of furrydom at the time.
But hearing the further explanation from Talent in his post above, it makes sense now. He fits more into the category. It was a misunderstanding on my part which was further caused by the fact that I wasn't apart of the earlier conversation Talent had with Grim.
Anyway, that's cool Talent.

I'm pretty sure you guys are getting off-topic.
But that wouldn't be true if a certified Moderator changed the topic to a Discussion about Mainstream and all things Hipster.

Well the conversation is still about the whole topic of furries, scalies, etc.

Depends on your definition of furries, scalies, etc. You could go up to as many different people in the fandom as you want. Everyone has their own definition of the word.

I'm the culprit who first drove this off topic. Anyway, despite that, thanks for being so open with us and sharing something you thought was personal. That fact made me feel real privileged.Tal wrote:Well the conversation is still about the whole topic of furries, scalies, etc.

No problem, BA. Like I said, I feel like I can trust you guys to not judge me for who I am.
