Which Final Fantasy do you think is the best Final Fantasy Game you've played? Why? Or have you even played any?

Final Fantasy Empty Re: Final Fantasy

I myself am not a huge rpg enthusiast although i've tried to give several games a chance. I've only played final fantasy VII out of a recommendation from friends that are huge fans and it wasnt bad at all but i still couldnt understand the HUGE hype.
I've always got from "true" final fantasy fans that not many of the ff games were good anymore once 7 hit and that those who mostlikely enjoyed 7+ probably grew up with 7 as their first ff.

Code of Princess was the last "rpg" that i've played and REALLY enjoyed in a very long time.

RPGs are my (not so) guilty pleasure. Love 'em.
I personally liked X the most even if I never did beat it. I played through all of 2, 3 (6, whichever it was I don't even know anymore. The one with Tera and Locke), and mostly through X. I partially played 13 and that was alright. Played a little of 7 too.
I liked 'em, though if you're looking for praise I can recommend someone to this here topic.

My guilty pleasure is liking XII which is typically disliked by other staunch FF fans because of its radical departure from the standard. It also becomes a bit lackluster towards the end due to Yasumi Matsuno's sudden departure from the project.

If we were talking about spin-offs, then the original Final Fantasy Tactics all the way. (Fun Fact: The development team of XII also made Tactics.)

FF10 forever, I love 12 as well. 13 is good, so is 13-2, never played lightning returns, but i want to. if you have a ps2, 10 and 10-2 are beautiful and should be played, if you have a ps3 or 360, then you might like the 13 games.

but 10 tho

As a fan of the 13 series could you perhaps explain why it is you really like it?
I'm familiar with 13 by how bad everyone says It and it's sequels are, both ff fans and non fans alike.
And I dont know a soul who actually likes them which is why im asking

I find a lot of people criticize 13 more for how they dislike Lightning, mainly because she is a more stoic, and overall calm character emotion-wise. She 's not like Yuna or Rikku from 10 she has compassion like Yuna does, but she doesn't show it as outwardly and as noticeably as Yuna, and she isn't the peppy FF girl. In essence, she's not like a large amount of final fantasy female protagonists, and acts more like some of the previous male characters. I find her attitude and demeanor more reminiscent of Cloud, and Auron, and I find it interesting that people criticize her for her attitude and outlook when they praise them in the other two. She's driven, and she doesn't take bullshit. People who criticize 13 often criticize it because they don't like her because of these things, and also because of the linearity of the gameplay, which I understand, but most final fantasy games if not all of them are linear till endgame. I love the battle system, it's easy to use, and you can use it how you wish, however because it is fast paced, you often fall on the side of just using the auto-attack button if you aren't invested in trying it on your own. It's fun, though, and it doesn't drag. Grinding doesn't seem to take as long because battles are usually quick. Harder battles are rewarding to those who stray from the auto-attack, because they help you hone and execute what you've learned.

The stories aren't bad, either, in some cases, yes, they are a little rushed, and parts don't always make sense when they come about, but overall they are solid. The characters are different, and mostly likable, I was not a huge fan of Hope in the first one because he tended to get on my nerves, but he's also a kid that's lost everything, and being annoying isn't so unrealistic. The characters and their stories and friendships are compelling, and interesting for the most part, and it's nice to see them develop as the game(s) go on. I haven't played the third one yet, but I hope to.
