Elections

So, it's election day in the United States. Anybody here old enough to vote? More importantly, will you be voting?

I'm old enough to vote, yay.
Unfortunately, I hate elections. There's also the fact that I don't live in the USA XD
For those who are voting: make your pick thoughtfully and hope for the best ;)

I have not. I honestly didn't care enough.
In a way, I did, but I feel it'd be unfair just because all my opinions about the candidates have been made off of what others have said about them, not the facts.
Maybe next time, though.

my god all I've been hearing at school these past few days is how Obama is going to ruin the county again

I haven't heard a single good reason as to how he "ruined the country" with supporting evidence from anyone yet

Obama as an individual has very little direct control over how the entire nation operates. Some are also forgetting that he has a divided congress and a politically immune supreme court to work with.

At any rate, pessimism isn't a solution to the perceived problem, but it's likely that those remarks are just people venting from all the election tension.

typing from school I'm so cool

A majority of the people I partially know do not know anything regarding politics, they either chose Romney because-

a.) they are sheep and following everyone else, by everyone else probably their parents and friends

b.) some people think that choosing someone who hasn't been president yet will bring change

but of course you then have those few people who have good arguments as to why Romney is the superior choice, but nobody cares about them because Ryan made Romney go down the drain so /o/

There's merit in that argument. Having someone different would bring some level of change and the executive branch is decidedly a pervasive force in government policy making, but people may be overestimating the amount of change said branch can bring in only four years.

Most of what you see happening today with respect to national politics is the consequence of years of actions taken by government, citizens, non-profit and private corporations; some of these events happening before the president took office this first term.

In essence, when it comes to the way things are in a nation-state, you have to look at things holistically.
