3DS
Not surprised that we don't already have this topic. I don't think many people here really care for it at the moment.
The device actually looks interesting, and I really like the improvements that they've made from their previous DS counterparts and some of these games look sweet. The price is pretty high though, actually, it's their highest priced handheld device at launch to date. Also, given Nintendo's history with handhelds, they'll release a smaller, better, version with a price reduction pretty shortly. The Stereoscopic 3D effect really doesn't interest me though, although if these third party developers bother to put it to good use, it can actually be something neat rather than gimmicky. (Kind of doubt that though)
Anyway, I guess I consider myself a bit of a gizmo addict, so I have been considering on getting one, but I think I'll practice a bit of patience this time and allow the system to develop and give them time to actually release all the promised features and games that have yet to be released. I want leading edge, not bleeding edge this time.
When it came to the first DS years ago, I bought it on release day and ended up sitting on it for a couple of months, but things started to pick up and now I can honestly say that the DS was a really great purchase for me, and that expectation is carrying over to the 3DS and influencing my decision. I'll admit though that I'm starting to grow tired of playing keep-up with Nintendo. I'll just have to see how things turn out.
Anyway, thought I'd give my opinion on the matter.

Eh, I might of got it at release, but I'm not interested in many of the launch games and I figured I might as well wait until it costs less. $250 is just waaaaaaaay too much for me right now, not to mention how much the games are on top of that >_>

I don't doubt how fun it is, just if its worth the money right now, and if its not better to wait for the price to drop or a new version to come out

Exact same thing/scenario here.Tal wrote:$250? No thank you. I'd like to go to my prom instead.
Not that I would have bought it even if I weren't paying for Prom though.
Re: 3DS
I got mine as a birthday present and I'm loving it! There are some neat new features and the 3D effects are fun too ^_^
I really don't know why people are sooo against it, makes me feel left out <_<
I know there's going to be a new improved verision but if I were to wait till the release I would be missing lots of games (Super Mario 3DS Land, Mario Kart 7, Legend of Zelda 3DS, etc). And time is what I need now -_-

Re: 3DS
Only reason I'd think about getting it is for the Monster Hunter games coming out. I love me my Monster Hunter.
